Castor Oil for Dry Eyes

A couple of patients have come in saying putting this type of castor oil in their eyes has been a “life savor” for their eyes. The latest patient is a lawyer who spends at least 10hr per day on an electronic screen.

I will be doing a full literature search on this to see its safety profile as this bottle below says: “Do not put into eye.”

More soon.

  1. I have severe dry eye pain in one eye for 2 months. 25 year history of dry eye/MGD in both eyes. Currently have had two IPL treatments, 1 Lipoflow. I was on Alrex for 30 days and started Xiidra 2 weeks ago. I am seeing a slight improvement but still incurring significant amount of discomfort. In addition, I have tried tons of OTC eye drops to no avail. After a really bad day; i used Castor Oil in my left eye. To my amazement; I felt immediate relief! I have been using castor oil for a few days and still experiencing significant relief. My question is: Is 100% castor Oil in the eye safe? I am using organic castor oil and keep it in the Fridge. Thanks for your blog and being a a dry eye specialist! I am coming to see you in the future.
